Valley of Shadows The Aztec Chronicles Book 6 edition by Zoe Saadia Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
In this last book of the Aztec Chronicles the young unsure youngsters have fully come forward to become the prominent future of the Aztecs.
Another fantastic read done by Zoe Saadia!
Thank you Zoe for your sharing of your talent!!
Always a fan of author Zoe Saadia, I couldn’t wait to read Book 6 of this amazing series The Aztec Chronicles. ‘Valley of Shadows’ is another intriguing saga filled with factual historical occurrences and well-woven plot. I couldn’t put it down. Highly recommend and hope there is a Book 7!
Spellbinding.... As always when I read books written by Zoe Saadia I am so lost in her books. Everything else in the house whole comes to a stop until I finish the last chapter. Unfortunately book 6 has ended the Aztec Series and now I have to wait until she starts a new book. Maybe the next one with be Ahuiltzotl, that pushy annoying kid. I have read all of Zoe Saadia's books and You will love them too..
This is the last book in the current series, so we’re saying farewell to Necalli, Miztli and the others, possibly for good... Though the afterword hints that there might be another series coming up – please yes! It’s hard to review without giving away spoilers, but I’ll do my best. Things are heating up out in the Tollocan valley, and Necalli, Miztli, Elotl and YaoTecuani are all off to war in one capacity or another, but while the battles are raging, it’s business as usual in the palace, with the wives and the courtiers all plotting against each other frantically (and doing far nastier things than happen on any of the battlefields). The battle scenes in this book are amazing – they absolutely capture the confusion, the exhileration and the horror of the boys’ first taste of official warfare, but also the incompetence and the deadpan bathos of any serious enterprise. The scene where Necalli realises (too late to do anything about it) that he’s got a high chance of dying a virgin made me laugh out loud. My heart belongs to the politics, however, and this doesn’t disappoint. Jade Doll is still chewing up the scenery, preparatory to being married off to the effete son of Nezhualcoyotl, and Tlacaelel’s family is back (yay!) in the form of a sly, cynical daughter and a seat-warming bureaucratic son. I hope there’s another series to come after this… Not just because I want to hear all about the further adventures of Miztli and Necalli (Will Tlemilli make a good and obedient wife? Will Chantli succeed in remaining unpregnant throughout her time as a priestess?) and especially poor old Elotl, but because we still need to know what happens to Quetzalli and the nymphomaniac mob witch.
Gimme MORE!!!
'Valley of Shadows' is a worthy entry in the Aztec Chronicles series. Fans of 'Obsidian Puma' and subsequent titles leading to this sixth book will be thrilled with Zoe Saadia's new story, which as usual is replete with authentic characters, vivid settings and a hard-to-predict action-packed plot.
An amazingly detailed insight into the pre-Columbian Americas. Filled with suspense, intrigue and drama, once you pick up one Ms Saadia's books you can't put it down. The politics back then were so different, and yet sometimes - nothing changes. Had my heart in my mouth for most of the book. Eagerly awaiting the next one!!
